Hailin Li’s practice approaches painting as an instinctive and spiritual act of creation. Tracing back to an archaic impulse of mark-making and form generation (e.g., cave paintings), her works become sites of interplay where tracing, reimagining, and translating everyday objects and quiet moments meet an embrace of color. By adopting coarse-grained linen and an experimental priming process, Li reinforces rawness and surface texture. Her paintings invite viewers into a suspended space between the seen and unseen, where imagination and meaning remain mutable.
